Carolyn Irwin’s pursuit of a career in accounting is based on her enjoyment of math, problem-solving and giving back to others. Accounting allows her to use these skills on a daily basis. Her firm grasp of accounting principles was confirmed when she was named a “Top 10” CPA exam scorer for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Helping clients find ways to minimize their tax burden gives her great personal satisfaction. Whether preparing tax returns or meeting with clients, she loves how every client is unique and thrives in an environment filled with constant learning and new challenges.
She’s also adept at explaining complex tax issues to clients in a way they can understand. Carolyn’s ability as a communicator has led others outside the firm to seek her out as an author on tax subjects. She has been published in Practical Tax Strategies, a nationally circulated magazine, as well as local business publications. Article subjects have included year-end individual and business tax planning, charitable giving, and Virginia state credits and incentives.
When not at work, Carolyn enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband and two children. She loves traveling with her family. In the last couple of years, they have traveled to Alaska and taken a cruise through Northern Europe and are already planning their next adventure.
