Having come from a family of entrepreneurs, Charles understands what it takes for small- and medium-sized businesses to be successful. Prior to merging with PBMares in 2018, Charles served as managing partner of Rockville-based Santos, Postal & Company, P.C. for 15 years during which time the firm’s gross revenues grew from $2 million to $9 million.

Charles has always felt that his career chose him. He thrives in an environment where he has the opportunity to use his experience and creativity to solve the financial challenges facing business owners and their families. In fact, his mission throughout his career has focused on helping people understand the financial complexities of their businesses using his experience in tax and consulting, including partnership taxation, private-equity real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, financial forecasting, and succession and strategic planning. Charles is considered by his peers to be a thought leader on business innovation and accounting technology.

Accounting Today recognized him among their 2016 Managing Partner Elite. He was also a finalist for CPA.com’s Digital CPA Network’s Practitioner of the Year. Under his management, Santos, Postal was named by Accounting Today as one of the best places to work in the small firm category for seven consecutive years, and the number one best place to work in 2015.

Charles takes his leadership role in the firm, in his profession and in his community very seriously. Along with his fellow partners, Charles shares a feeling of great pride in their work, their connection with clients and their support for the staff. In fact, he’s happiest when clients are satisfied and confident about the business and financial decisions made with the firm as their financial advisor.

A committed leader in his community, Charles was proud to be a part of successful fundraising campaigns to help build the Strathmore Music Hall and the campus expansion of Suburban Hospital, both organizations he still champions. He currently serves on the board of the Suburban Hospital Foundation, having previously served as the board chair, as a member of the Strathmore Inner Circle and a proud supporter of the Greater Washington Area Community Foundation. In addition, he is a benefactor of the Israel Bond Committee.
