Provide monthly financial literacy classes for youth where they learn to set financial goals, create a budget, track spending, build wealth, and invest in themselves.

Provide manipulatives which will enable preschool aged students to learn about financial literacy and math while engaging multiple learning styles; visual, auditory, kinesthetic, reading and writing. The students will enjoy using toy money, which will enhance their comprehension of financial and math skills.

Approximately 300 teens, ages 13-18, will engage in the Money Matters and Career Launch programming.

The On the Money program provides learners with the tools and knowledge to make sound financial decisions for their families. The course teaches how to develop and adhere to a family budget, create an emergency fund, manage, and pay down credit, save and invest for the future, and how to navigate online financial tools.

The Britepaths’ Financial Empowerment Program provides the opportunity, tools, and resources for low and middle-income families to take control of their financial lives. Britepaths offers individual financial coaching, small group coaching, and deeper long-term financial help through one-on-one mentoring.

The Cornerstones’ Pathways to Sustainable Employment (PSE) programs offer a clear path to economic success for our unemployed and under employed clients living along the Dulles Corridor, especially in Reston and Herndon, VA. PSE provides economically vulnerable clients an opportunity to better position themselves for jobs in traditional and growing employment sectors.

For Kids

High school students served by ForKids who have grown up without much financial stability. In the Youth Moonshot program, students are set up to succeed academically and financially. In partnership with the Hampton Roads Workforce Council and ForKids’ corporate partners, our Youth Coaches will match participants with paid summer internships to build both their resumes and their finances.

Timber Ridge School (TRS) is a residential treatment center in Cross Junction, Virginia with a fully accredited middle and high school. The school’s My Next Step (MNS) program is specifically designed to help 17-to-21 year-old males who are transitioning out of foster care, are homeless or transitioning from incarceration.

This grant would fund programming which works to break the cycle of abuse and to help survivors of trafficking obtain financial stability.

Arc Northern Virginia

The Empowering Employment and Independence program equips people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to secure employment and financial stability. Using the award-winning Tech for Independent Living online curriculums (TravelMate, EmployMate, MoneyMate, SafetyMate, and DailyMate), The Arc trains people with IDD to use customized lessons to work, travel, manage money, and live more independently, especially when direct support and coaching is limited.

The Bridge Ministry

The Bridge Ministry

The Bridge Ministry provides job readiness and employment services to clients. The Bridge will partner with Piedmont Virginia Community College to provide professional certification courses to every client. The courses are in heating and air conditioning repair, electrical work, small engine repair, diesel engine repair, welding, plumbing, construction, and others. Clients will also participate in vocational training in auto mechanic work, body shop work, manufacturing and assembly, landscaping, gardening, onsite construction, heating and air conditioning, electrical work, and heavy machinery operation.
