Much of Brad Jones’s professional work at the firm centers on providing business valuations, financial accounting, auditing and managerial accounting consulting services. He also has extensive experience working with new ventures, including services for entity selection, setting up accounting systems and controls, advising on governance provisions, assisting with obtaining financing and advising on an appropriate capital structure.
In addition, Brad frequently works with clients’ attorneys on drafting appropriate buy-sell and other agreements, helps clients with succession planning and devises tax-efficient exit strategies for retiring owners, and consults with clients on negotiations and managing due diligence activities in mergers and acquisitions transactions. He has also provided expert witness testimony in contested business valuation cases.
A licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia, Brad has also earned the Certified Management Accountant (CMA), the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designations. He is also a recipient of Virginia Business magazine’s Super CPA recognition for his work in the Business Valuation/Litigation practice category.
Brad always wanted to work with people in his community, and public accounting was a natural choice because it is such a “people business.” He enjoys working with entrepreneurs and community leaders, solving financial and business problems locally.
Giving back to his local community extends beyond his work with the firm. Brad has taught accounting and tax courses at Strayer University and Germanna Community College, as well as continuing professional education courses. He also serves as a board member for a number of local not-for-profit organizations in Fredericksburg, including the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce were he served as chair of its Legislative Affairs Committee for eight years.
