In his more than 35 years in the profession, Rickey has seen a lot of change in accounting. One thing that hasn’t changed is how much he enjoys meeting new clients, learning about their unique situation, and uncovering opportunities to help them meet their goals. He looks back fondly on his (excellent) decision to take a few accounting classes to see if the career suited him and his conclusion to follow that path into the future.
Rickey’s clients always know they will get top notch tax advice, but his ability to help them make smart decisions and plan for the future is where he shines. In addition to his tax planning and compliance services, he leads clients through accounting method changes, shareholder issues, and multi-state compliance requirements with ease.
His broad experience makes him a valuable asset, particularly to those in real estate and construction, manufacturing and distribution, and retail businesses. As a past co-owner of a large, multi-brand, new car dealership, he brings next-level wisdom to clients in this industry.
A long-time resident of coastal North Carolina, Rickey believes in giving back to the community that has supported him for many years. He regularly volunteers with a variety of organizations, including the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce (past president and current finance committee member), First Tee of Wilmington (past board member and treasurer), the Boys & Girls Club (past board member and treasurer), the University of North Carolina Wilmington MSA/Accounting Advisory Board (past committee member), the Bellamy Mansion (past board member), and the Rotary Club (past member). Additionally, he is a member of the Country Club of Landfall, previously serving as a board member there as well.
In his free time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending quality time with his wife of more than 30 years.
